...Model buildings an' stuff!

A long time ago like lots of small boys I enjoyed playing with model soldiers, and as I got into my early teens I had for a while before music took over been interested in 'Wargaming', so when my son Clayton became old enough I decided that he too would be interested as well! (me? control freak?, surely not?) It would give him an interest and would be a father-son thing for us to enjoy and keep him away from drink/drugs/vandalism and anything else you can think of! We'd often stopped during shopping trips and gazed longingly at the wonderfully sculpted and painted models in the window of 'Games Workshop' and I could hardly wait for him to one day point to the window and say, "Dad, can I have..." So, after a brief flirtation with 'Games Workshop' 'Space Marines' and just after the first film in the trilogy of 'Lord of the Rings' had come out he became interested in the 'Lord of the Rings' figures produced by GW.

So, after you've bought and painted those figures and want to play with them you've got to have some reasonable looking terrain and scenery to put them on! So having done bits of modelmaking before at 'Nigel Widdowson Graphic Design' , (when doing architectural illustrations for Wimpey Homes we would often work from houseplans and make model houses in cardboard so we could photograph them from different angles to make the drawing more realistic!) I set to and built him some bits of scenery and found I enjoyed the experience immensely.
